Secure Real Estate Investor Websites – What does that even mean? Does it matter?
When you visit a website, your web browser will show a little icon next to the web address that shows whether the website you’re on is secure or not.
For example, here’s how it looks in Google Chrome:
What does it take to have secure real estate investor websites?
To make a website secure, you need to have something called an SSL Certificate. This is something that you normally have to purchase and have installed on your website. However, at DoneDealWebsite.com, we include a free SSL Certificate for our customers. This saves our customers a lot of money and hassle.
For a website to be secure, you not only have to have the SSL certificate installed, but you also have to have things set up where your website address starts with https instead of http. That “s” at the end is what makes things load securely, assuming you have all the technical things in place like the SSL certificate.
If you’re a Done Deal Website customer with an account in good standing, all you have to do is let us know if you’d like us to set this up for you and we’ll take care of it for free.
Does it really matter if your real estate investor website is secure?
Yes, it does. For one thing, if you don’t have a secure web address, some people will be scared off when they visit your website. And there are changes coming that make this even more important.
In the past, if you visited a page that wasn’t secure, the Google Chrome browser would show something like this:
But Google is supposed to change something to their web browser soon that will look like this:
As you can imagine, that will scare people. If people see that in their web browser, many will probably leave the page, thinking they are in danger.
In reality, they’re not in much danger, especially as long as they are not submitting any sensitive information like their credit card number, social security number, etc. But most people won’t realize that and many will be scared if they see that message.
Because of that, it makes sense to secure your site.
Again, if you’re a Done Deal Website customer, we can get an SSL certificate for you and secure your site for free.
If you’re not a Done Deal Website customer, you can usually buy an SSL certificate wherever you registered your domain name or from your hosting provider.
